Chemist Warehouse vs Boots: Ozempic & Mounjaro Prices in Ireland (October 2026)

Chemist Warehouse publishes its Irish price list; Boots doesn't. We checked every GLP-1 line on CW's October 2026 list and compared the real cost of treatment dose by dose.

Chemist Warehouse vs Boots: Ozempic & Mounjaro Prices in Ireland (October 2026)

Two of the biggest names on Irish high streets get typed into Google every day with the same question attached: "how much is Ozempic in Chemist Warehouse Ireland?" or "does Boots sell Mounjaro, and what does it cost?" The interesting thing is not the answers themselves — it's that the two chains answer them completely differently. Chemist Warehouse publishes a full national prescription price list you can read before you leave the house. Boots doesn't publish Irish prices at all.

Here's what each actually costs in October 2026, what those prices do and don't include, and how to compare the number that really matters: the total monthly cost of treatment, not just the pen.

Quick answer (16 October 2026): Chemist Warehouse Ireland's published price list has Mounjaro at €219.99 (2.5 mg) rising to €534.99 (12.5/15 mg), Ozempic at €119.99 (0.25–1 mg pens) and €224.99 (2 mg), and Wegovy from €184.99. Boots Ireland runs a weight-loss treatment service but publishes no Irish price list — you learn the price at consultation. Either way, the figure you're quoted is for the pen only: these are prescription-only medicines.

That last sentence is where most price comparisons go wrong. The number that matters is the total — pen plus prescriber, month after month. Doctor-led treatment with Slimbr starts from €229 in month one (€49 clinical fee to Slimbr + medication from €180 paid to the independent partner pharmacy); the sections below show how to line that up against any pharmacy's shelf price — start with a free two-minute eligibility check.

Chemist Warehouse Ireland: the published price list

Chemist Warehouse — the Australian discount chain that has expanded across Ireland — publishes a national Prescription Price List on its Irish site. That's genuinely unusual: most Irish pharmacies quote prices only when you're standing at the counter. Here are the weight-loss injection prices on that list, verified 16 October 2026 — Mounjaro from €219.99 to €534.99, Ozempic from €119.99, Wegovy from €184.99:

What do weight-loss injections cost at Chemist Warehouse Ireland? (October 2026)
MedicineStrengthChemist Warehouse price
Mounjaro (tirzepatide)2.5 mg pen (4 doses)€219.99
Mounjaro (tirzepatide)5 mg pen (4 doses)€299.99
Mounjaro (tirzepatide)7.5 mg / 10 mg pen (4 doses)€419.99
Mounjaro (tirzepatide)12.5 mg / 15 mg pen€534.99
Ozempic (semaglutide)0.25 mg / 0.5 mg / 1 mg pen (4 doses)€119.99
Ozempic (semaglutide)2 mg pen€224.99
Wegovy (semaglutide)0.25 mg / 0.5 mg / 1 mg pen (4 doses)€184.99
Wegovy (semaglutide)1.7 mg pen€214.99
Wegovy (semaglutide)2.4 mg pen€244.99
Saxenda (liraglutide)6 mg/ml pen (5)€234.99

Two footnotes matter. First, a "4-dose" pen is one dose a week — about a month of treatment for most people. Second, the list itself says Chemist Warehouse will "endeavour to maintain the retail prices for products in this catalogue until 31st December 2026" — an intention, not a guarantee, so treat the figures as checked-today rather than fixed forever.

How does that sit against the wider market? At the 2.5 mg starting dose, typical Irish high-street pen prices run roughly €235–€290, with clinic partner pharmacies dispensing from about €180 — so Chemist Warehouse's €219.99 is genuinely at the sharp end of the high-street range at low doses, while at 7.5/10 mg (€419.99) it sits inside the typical €350–€465+ band. We track the full pharmacy-by-pharmacy picture in our guide to the cheapest place to get Mounjaro in Ireland.

What those prices buy — and what they don't

The price list covers the medicine only. Every product on it is prescription-only, so before any pharmacy — Chemist Warehouse included — can dispense, you need a prescriber: a private GP appointment or an online clinic. That consultation cost sits on top of the pen, and it varies more than most people expect.

One licence note worth knowing before you price-shop Ozempic: in Ireland Ozempic is licensed for type 2 diabetes, not weight management — the weight-loss licence belongs to Wegovy, which contains the same medicine (semaglutide). Some clinics do prescribe Ozempic for weight loss; whether that's appropriate is a medical decision, not a pricing one. Our Ozempic vs Wegovy in Ireland explainer covers the difference properly.

Stock is the other practical caveat: a published national price doesn't guarantee your nearest branch has every strength on the shelf the day you need it — worth a phone call before you travel.

Boots Ireland: a real service, but no published prices

Boots runs a prescription weight-loss treatment service in Ireland, with consultations bookable through boots.ie, and Irish media have reported on in-store availability. In the UK, Boots made headlines in early 2026 with a walk-in-style in-store weight-loss injection service — a pilot across 17 stores offering Mounjaro and Wegovy consultations.

What Boots does not publish, in either market, is a shelf-edge price list for these medicines. The Irish price of a Mounjaro or Wegovy prescription through Boots is confirmed at consultation, once a clinician has decided what's appropriate — and the consultation itself may carry a fee. So the honest answer to "what does Mounjaro cost in Boots Ireland?" is: nobody can quote it from a website, including this one. If Boots is your preference, book the consultation and ask for the total figure — medicine plus any consultation or follow-up fees — in writing before you commit.

That asymmetry — one chain publishing every price, one pricing at consultation — is exactly why "which is cheaper, Chemist Warehouse or Boots?" can't be answered with a single number. It can only be answered per person, per dose, with the prescriber cost included.

How to compare the real cost: pen + prescriber

The number that belongs in your budget is the total monthly cost of care: the pen, plus the prescriber, plus the support that keeps the treatment safe and on track. Three honest comparisons at the 2.5 mg starting dose, as at October 2026:

  • Chemist Warehouse route: €219.99 for the pen, plus whatever your prescriber charges per prescription. Over months, prescriber fees are not a rounding error.
  • Typical high street: roughly €235–€290 for the pen alone at the same dose, before any GP or clinic fee.
  • Doctor-led online clinic: with Slimbr, medication from the partner pharmacy (from about €180 at the starting dose) plus a €49 first-month clinical fee — from €229 in month one — then €99 a month for ongoing doctor-led care plus your medication. Dose changes over time change the medication price; the fee stays predictable.

Two supports cut the real cost whichever route you take: some Irish health insurers refund a share of consultation fees, and Revenue's Med 1 process returns 20% of qualifying medical expenses. Neither applies to the pen alone without the paperwork — keep every receipt.

And one thing no price list covers: is a medical card or the Drug Payment Scheme any help here? Not currently — Mounjaro and Wegovy are not reimbursed for weight management in Ireland, so the €80-a-month DPS cap doesn't apply to these private prescriptions. That's actively under review; our guide to Mounjaro, the medical card and the HSE decision tracks where it stands.

Is the cheapest pen the best deal?

Not necessarily, and it would be poor advice to pretend otherwise. Price is one of three things that matter:

  • Total cost over time. Treatment typically runs months, not weeks, and doses usually climb — a pharmacy that's cheapest at 2.5 mg may not be cheapest at 5 mg or beyond. Compare the ladder, not the first rung.
  • Supply reliability. The cheapest price on an out-of-stock pen is worth nothing. National chains' stock varies by branch and week.
  • Ongoing medical supervision. These are powerful medicines with dose steps, side effects to monitor and habits to build. A route that bundles clinician review — or a GP who knows your history — is part of what you're buying, not an optional extra.

If a published price list helps you budget, Chemist Warehouse has done something genuinely useful for Irish patients. If you want the whole cost visible in one monthly figure before you start, that's precisely the problem doctor-led clinics were built to solve — a free two-minute eligibility check shows the likely total monthly figure — Slimbr service fee plus medication from the partner pharmacy — before any money changes hands.

Chemist Warehouse, Boots and GLP-1 prices: FAQs

How much is Ozempic in Chemist Warehouse Ireland?

Per the published Chemist Warehouse Ireland price list checked 16 October 2026: €119.99 for the 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg four-dose pens, and €224.99 for the 2 mg pen. Remember Ozempic's Irish licence is for type 2 diabetes — a prescriber decides whether it's appropriate for you.

How much is Mounjaro in Chemist Warehouse Ireland?

On the same list: €219.99 (2.5 mg), €299.99 (5 mg), €419.99 (7.5/10 mg) and €534.99 (12.5/15 mg). The list says prices are intended to hold until 31 December 2026, stock permitting.

Does Boots Ireland sell Mounjaro, and what does it cost?

Boots Ireland runs a prescription weight-loss treatment service with consultations bookable online, and in-store availability has been reported in Irish media. But Boots publishes no Irish price list — the cost is confirmed at consultation, including any consultation fee. Ask for the total figure in writing.

Are Chemist Warehouse's prices the same in every Irish store?

The published list is national, and the company says it will endeavour to hold those retail prices until 31 December 2026. Availability of a given strength at your nearest branch can vary — phone ahead if making a special trip.

Does the Chemist Warehouse price include the prescription?

No. Every medicine on the list is prescription-only: the price is for the dispensed medicine, and the prescriber's fee (GP or clinic) is separate.

Can the medical card or Drug Payment Scheme cover these pens?

Not for weight management. Mounjaro and Wegovy are not reimbursed by the HSE for weight loss, so the DPS €80 monthly cap doesn't apply — these remain private prescriptions. Saxenda is the one weight-loss injection with restricted State funding; the HSE's Mounjaro decision is tracked in our guide.
